Houston Serious About Bringing NHL to the City – Houston Video

I know I have said no teams are going to move, but the NHL loves owners with a lot of money and an NHL ready building. Do they move a team to Houston or wait for expansion?

  1. Keep doing the relocation/expansion videos when they are needed. You have great insight on the markets and reasoning behind the decisions.

  2. With how Seattle and Quebec are right now and the NHL not that interested in Hartford I think Houston has the best chance now. Big population as well. I personally don't think they need one the most though but I know lots of Dallas fans would be happy.

  3. If Houston gets a team, they'll be other franchises on the move then in order to get a 16 team conference in the west and 16 in the east

  4. An attendance video and reasoning behind the struggles or successes for each franchise would be awesome.

  6. What about Florida? Aren't they still losing money too? I understand their location is awful.

  7. I think that Houston is way ahead in the game than Seattle at this point. The stadium is ready there

  8. What would they change the coyotes or hurricanes name to if they move to Houston? (Both are silly names anyway).

Houston Arrows sounds pretty good actually. As long as its not Texans.

  9. Great point on why it's unfair for Canadians to say which American City deserves a team Cuz there are a lot of Fans who for a number of reasons can't go to every game, I'm one of the Biggest Jets fans, I've seen every single game since they returned but I can't go to a lot of games so I only go to about one game a season

  10. As a Tampa fan who lives in Orlando going to a game against the panthers their location hurts. I think it would help them to be downtown Miami or Orlando.Sunrise is out in nowhere.

  13. I live about 20 minutes from the Panthers arena and am a season ticket holder and nobody goes to those games because there is not an interest and they’re terrible. Most of my friends don’t go to games because they keep losing and there isn’t a bad financial situation in Ft Lauderdale at all for the most part just not an interest in a garbage team

  16. They probably are getting a good deal to move there. As I was saying in previous discussions. Who are they bidding against to get a team? Okc? Kansas city?

The nhl needs a team to add to the central division unless they reformat the playoff structure to make it easier for a 9 team division to get 4 teams in.

  17. If Carolina moves to Houston they could keep their name

  18. Relocate Arizona to Seattle. Florida to Quebec and expand to Houston. I don't see Carolina moving because they have had success and won a cup in the past.

  19. I don’t want any Franchises to move because I’d like to see them all be successful but to me Florida seems like the most likely to be moved. Basically Zero attendance and little history of winning. If you move Arizona they will still be abysmal and Carolina has a good team that can compete for a Cup and draw attendance sooner rather than later.

  20. I remember when Carolina would draw sellout crowds. The interest was there, but not making the playoffs since 2009 has lost some of it.

I live in the Raleigh-Durham area, and I can say that the Hurricanes do a terrible job marketing and promoting the sport. Their practice facility is an absolute dumpster fire and it’s apparent Karmanos doesn’t care about this franchise.

Do I think the Hurricanes can return to how they were in the early 2000’s? Yes, but major changes are needed, and trying to find an owner who would want to keep them in Raleigh is tough.

  22. NOOOOO SEATTLE 1ST!!!! And also, fuck expansion. Make it a relocation. Some teams are in series debts (Panthers, Coyotes, Hurricanes) and can't fill up half of the arena while Coyotes can't fill up over 30% of it. Teams will be tired of losing players in expansion too

  23. in a perfect world, i think it would be houston as an expansion so it evens out the divisions, then moving arizona to seattle and florida to quebec so they dont have to realign because those teams will be in the same division

  24. As an American, I prefer teams in Canada rather than southern U.S. states where hockey isn't appealing. Tampa and Dallas are successful, and Nashville is winning. But Hockey is the most popular sport in Canada, Baseball/Football is most popular in US. I love hockey, and it's growing here. But Canada deserves to have a team in Quebec. And I know Dallas fans want a in state rivalry, but look at Florida. It's practically 90% lightning fans. I see more Montreal Fans here than Panther fans

I say it's Expansion or the relocation of the coyotes or Hurricanes

  27. U are saying that Carolina should be considered as Relocation but then say that u don’t know about Florida situation they can have arena problems or something else. But I gotta say that u don’t know about Carolina situation then cause u don’t live there. Carolina sold a lot of tickets when they were a good team and now they haven’t made the playoffs since 2009. And meanwhile Florida never sold much tickets like never really, Ever since they were a team, so yeah maybe Florida should be the one considering Relocation not Carolina cause they are fine and they will get back to selling a lot of tickets I’m sure. Half of the people in Florida care about Tampa more than themselves, It’s weird to have Florida around considering Tampa is in Florida and u have both teams there basically that doesn’t make sense. Tampa is amazing but Florida really shouldn’t have a team and I still think that

  28. Why do we even need another team? Just relocate Arizona Caroline and Florida

  29. Add Houston as an expansion team, move Carolina to Kansas City, move Phoenix to Seattle, and expand to Quebec. Move Buffalo to the Metro, and put QUE in the Atlantic.

  30. I have to admit, I have been a bit vocal for a few years on getting the NHL out of Miami, Phoenix, Carolina, but then again could be because I'm from Kansas City and would love one in the sprint center. But I do believe seattle and Quebec City deserves one before KC. But would probably prefer a AHL franchise in KC, sign me up for that.

  31. I think Arizona is a valuable market. I just think they need to move back to Phoenix with a new arena. Arizona is a good sports state and I think once they get consistent a good fan base will follow. I think to make it all work you add Houston the the central. Add Seattle to the pacific. Relocate the Hurricanes to the the Nordiques and move them to the Atlantic. Then you move Buffalo to the Metro to join the other New York teams. Thats how I would do it.

  32. They shouldn't have a team in Calgary. Look at that, they don't have a building. Get them out of here.

  33. The guy has the money to place a franchise in Houston. They have the arena, and the population to support it. They are a sports city and to me they check all the boxes that the NHL would want.

  34. It doesn't matter the reason people don't go to Florida games the point is they don't go lol so move them

  36. So this video focuses 99% on relocation, but its end conclusion is that the league probably prefers expansion. Probably just because hockey fans are obsessed with relocation, hence your other video on relocation being your most popular.

  37. What about Kansas City? Don't they have a stadium ready for a NHL team?

  38. Can we get this guy in Seattle? They seem to doing everything possible to make sure I never see a team nearby.
